Logto's new plans: Free 50K MAUs; $16 Pro for unlimited with no per-MAU cost

As of December 27, 2023, we're excited to announce updates to our Logto plans! This update is all about adding value and making our products more accessible to you. Here's what you can look forward to:

1. Say goodbye to MAU-based pricing to reduce the costs: We've eliminated the traditional principle of payment based on your monthly active users (MAU). Now, you can enjoy unlimited MAU coverage with just a base price, providing you with unparalleled flexibility and scalability, no matter the stage of your product's lifecycle.
2. Simplified plan options for easier access to our offerings: In our quest to streamline and enhance your experience, we've combined the best of both worlds. The Hobby and Pro plans have now merged into a single, more powerful Pro plan. This new plan offers a comprehensive suite of features tailored to meet all your needs in one convenient package.

Plan changes

Pro plan has become more affordable than ever

• You only pay $16/month for unlimited MAU usage, a significant drop from the earlier $48 base price plus extra for MAU usage.
• One million tokens¹ is included monthly².
• You get 1 machine-to-machine count, with the flexibility to pay for more as needed².
• You start with 3 API resources and have the option to pay for more based on your usage².
• During the beta phase, you can use MFA, SSO, and Organizations at no cost³.

We're upgrading you to the new Pro plan immediately, with no additional charges. You won't incur any charges for monthly active user (MAU) usage for the rest of this period. The cost for this month will be adjusted based on the new plan's start date, reflecting the lower price. This adjusted amount will be subtracted from your next bill.

We're in the final stages of developing our add-on pricing model. Charging will commence on the day the new pricing is released. Rest assured, we won't apply any charges for usage before this finalization.

Hobby plan has been upgraded to Pro plan

• You now need to pay only a fixed $16/month for unlimited MAU usage.
• Audit logs retention now extends to 14 days.
• You can use up to 10 webhooks.
• You have access to unlimited roles and permissions per role.
• One million tokens¹ is included monthly².
• Machine-to-machine count is still limited to 1 but you can pay for more as needed²
• API resource count is still limited to 3 but you have the option to pay for more based on your usage².
• During the beta phase, you can use MFA, SSO, and Organizations at no cost³.

We will automatically switch all existing Hobby plan users to the new Pro plan, effective immediately. For any remaining MAU usage, we won't charge for the previous month's usage.

Free plan has been enhanced

• The monthly active users (MAU) limit has been raised to 50,000, an increase from the previous 7,500.
• The Free plan now includes one machine-to-machine app for you to call the Logto management API.
• The Free plan now includes one machine-to-machine role to help with API access management.

Introduce enterprise-ready packages

In November, Logto expanded into the business-to-business (B2B) sector and launched several B2B features. If you're on the Pro plan, feel free to use these features without worrying about additional fees until we begin charging:

1. Multi-factor authentication (TOTP, Passkeys, Backup codes)
2. Organizations (Multi-tenancy support)
3. Enterprise SSO (SAML and OIDC protocols)

Why is Logto making these changes?

The previous model of billing based on monthly active users (MAU) usage created financial pressure and unpredictability. Although Logto introduced tiered MAU to mitigate these issues at the launch of its pricing model, it now aims to take a more significant step. By removing MAU-based billing, Logto allows developers to use Logto without concerns and to grow alongside the platform. This approach aligns the features and functionalities offered with the product or company's stage of growth.
2. Supporting a progressive journey: The new plans are designed to provide a more progressive experience for both developers and companies as their usage of Logto evolves. This includes offering easier access to more advanced features for smaller organizations, while also providing larger organizations with more powerful and flexible purchasing options through feature add-ons.
3. Continuous improvement and customer feedback: Logto is committed to continuously updating and improving its offerings. Over the past several months, the company has released numerous B2C and B2B features. These recent changes are a result of customer feedback, aiming to ensure that customers receive more value and only pay for the features they use. This approach is part of Logto's ongoing effort to tailor its packages to best fit customer needs and avoid unnecessary expenses.
